5 Futuristic Movie Toys We Want Now

4. The Orgasmatron. Sleeper

Initially I intended to try and keep this list more PG friendly, but at the same time the idea of not including this device would be a crime. This device, which unless you haven't seen the movie or can't guess by the name (I guess if you are below the age of 10... in which you should perhaps skip to the next page now) is a large cylinder that when stepped inside, rapidly induces orgasms. Now, it completely depends on how pleasurable the experience of this machine would actually be to judge its worth, although, if Woody Allen's experience in the film is anything to go by it's extremely pleasurable indeed. The thing about this device however, and similar creations in other science fiction movies (Barbarella, Flash Gordon, Demolition Man) is that it is often created because for some reason future societies no longer engage in the "physical act of love" any more. If The Orgasmatron were to replace sex, then the device's appeal would presumably drop quite drastically. However, as an added extra, which just causes the user to feel orgasmic for a while afterwards, then you really have to wonder what the harm would be... Perhaps the orb like device also seen in this film, which induces pleasurable feelings but not orgasms when touched would be a better, more convenient and less awkward device to have lying around the house. The small melon like size would also be more marketable, and I don't think I know many people who wouldn't at least try it out just to see the kind of strange but pleasurable sensations it apparently gives the user.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
