5 Futuristic Movie Toys We Want Now

3. Sonic Shotgun. Minority Report

It seemed wrong for some reason not to include some kind of futuristic weaponry somewhere on this list, because in pretty much every single science fiction film, a cool new gun or weapon of some kind is created. However, I honestly struggled to think of a weapon cool enough to put on this list which wasn't a simple old boring ray gun, or wasn't something that had appeared in Star Wars (see the intr0duction). Then I remembered a gun which I loved as soon as I saw it, and a gun which I could probably actually use in day to day life and not be too scared of causing too many fatalities: Minority Report's Sonic Shotgun. The cool hand held gun Tom Cruise flips around and then fires off a sonic pulse which fires back his enemies without killing them was probably the sole reason why I really wanted to see this film when it was released to cinemas. I remember being bowled over by the gun after watching the trailer and it is probably the only reason I went out and brought the Playstation game of the film, so I could at least virtually have a play with that gun. Though the power levels at which Tom Cruise uses the gun in the film would probably be far too dangerous to just play around with at home, there must be other settings, and just imagine how cool it would be to use in a padded room, laser-tag style. I would definitely pay good money to go to places like that if they existed. The sick sticks in this film are also pretty cool... though wouldn't be anywhere near as fun to play around with at home.

I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
