3. Billy Madison
Stay with me on this one. You must be thinking: Billy Madison!? Was there even acting in that movie? Yes, there was. We can't acknowledge great performances without understanding the fact that comedic performing is just as much of an art. And Adam Sandler mastered it in this film. Sure, it was dumb and lame brained, but was it trying to be anything other than funny? Billy Madison is an insanely funny film that helped to establish Sandler as a movie star. People loved it and others lie about hating it simply because you can't walk away from it with any sense of its "artistic merits." It was funny as hell and that was because of Sandler. His performance was pure manic genius. Don't believe me? Can you imagine Robert Downey Jr. or Russell Crowe pulling off such a role? Comedic performances like this are not meant for Oscar season. They are meant to make audiences laugh their asses off. Sandler definitely scored with this one.
