5 Great British & Irish Comedy Films You Probably Missed

1. Guest House Paradiso

If you are fan of the BBC sitcom, Bottom, chances are you would have already seen or at least heard of this spin off, slapstick feature.

Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson star as the implied characters of aforementioned series, each possessing a different surname. fool ("it's pronounced Thwaite!") and Ndingombaba, respectively.

That different asides you can fully expect the duo's signature comedy violence, toilet humour and witty, quotable one liners and retorts to be prominent, as Richie and Eddie run the worst guest house in the United Kingdom.

Simon Pegg make's his feature film debut, Bill Nighy and Kate Ashfield appear as breakfast guests and the late, Fenella Fielding, is charming as Mrs. Foxfur.

Edmondson took on the directing role by himself, after Mayall was involved in a coma inducing quad bike accident prior to production.

This 1999 cult classic includes one of the greatest kitchen fights in cinematic history and the behind the scenes documentary is well worth a watch too, particularly the making of the 'vomit-orium'.
