As fans of the genre know all too well, superhero movies do not always adapt beloved characters in an effective way. For the most part, studios have been on a pretty good run in recent years, but in the first decade or so of the modern superhero film genre, there were plenty of missteps with characters that have yet to return onscreen. This is a shame since there are some characters on which Hollywood flat out whiffed that still have a lot to offer if adapted properly. This article examines five characters that have been used and abused in poor cinematic portrayals. It is a humble request that the studios owning the respective movie rights to these characters give them a second look and realize that the characters were not the problem. Poor adaptations and sometimes even worse films were the cause of their failure to connect with a larger audience. Now let's get started in moving these members of the Hall of Shame into the Hall of Fame.
