5 Great Villains For The Fantastic Four Movie Reboot

Galactus The first attempt at a big budget Fantastic Four movie franchise was a huge failure in terms of critical response. One of the main reasons for that failure was the incredibly poor interpretation of the villains in the movies. The portrayal of Doctor Doom in both instalments of the franchise was appalling and nothing more than an insult to a great character. The Silver Surfer who, while a hero, first appeared as an antagonist in the second movie (before reforming), was a shadow of his comic book self. And the less said about that horrible cloud version of Galactus the better. However, news of a Fantastic Four reboot was announced recently for March 2015. As a 20th Century Fox production it will apparently be completely independent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the universe in which the Avengers movie takes place), but could possibly crossover with the X-Men movies in the future, which would make for an interesting expansion of both universes. What this reboot definitely needs is a solid villain presence - to both rectify the last catastrophe on that front and compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has such a strong villain roster with Loki, Abomination, Malekith, Red Skull, the Collector and Thanos either having appeared already or due to appear in the future. With that in mind, here are five great villains for the Fantastic Four reboot...

Honourable Mention: Doctor Doom

Doom This goes without saying, which is why it doesn't make the list of fresh ideas - it's just obvious that Doctor Doom should be in the rebooted movie. Fox need to get him right this time and, whether he's the main villain of the first new film or someone who is just operating out of sight (like Thanos has done so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), he absolutely needs to be there. However, there is no reason whatsoever why he can't be present with another villain in the movie. He doesn't necessarily have to be working alongside said villain, but someone else to keep the Fantastic Four occupied while Doctor Doom prepares his move in the background could be a great idea. On that note, the villains in this list are included with the fact that they could be supporting villains in mind, rather than having them as the main villain (because, frankly, not all of them could carry the villainous mantle in a live action movie on their own). On to the main list...
