This simplistic approach (turn a car into a time machine, when it reaches a specific speed it travels in time) should not put you off. This is a highly complex piece of machinery that runs on more plutonium than you can wave a stick at. It's just highly volatile, extremely temperamental and more than a little bit unreliable. Provided you're not in a rush and there's no Iranian terrorists shooting at you though the Delorean DMC-12 should meet all your time travel needs.
