James Hoyt, played by Scott Speedman, just proposed to Kristen McKay, played by Liv Tyler. She rejects his offer to marry. They arrive to James' parent's remote summer home, where they originally wanted to have a romantic getaway. When James heads out to buy Kristen a pack of cigarettes, a loud pound comes from the door. Kristen, spooked, doesn't open the door and anxiously awaits James' return home. After James returns, three masked assailants break into their home and terrorise the couple. The Strangers also starred Its Always in Sunny in Philadelphias Glenn Howerton, along with Gemma Ward, Laura Margolis, and Kip Weeks as the 3 masked intruders.
