5 Horror Movie Characters Who Should Have Died (And 5 We Wish Hadn’t)

9. Should Have Died: Alex Browning - Final Destination

Scream/ A Quiet Place
New Line Cinema

In the first Final Destination film, it is Alex Browning's (Devon Sawa) fateful premonition which instigates the events of this hair-raising horror movie. While preparing to board a flight to Paris, Alex receives a vision: the plane will crash almost immediately after take-off, and the accident will kill all onboard.

Terrified by his vision, Alex manages to escape the flight alongside some of his school friends. While they are all consequently saved and thus cheat death, most of the teenagers later die in a series of outlandish freak accidents.

Alex, however, somehow manages to survive the events of the first film, avoiding those seriously grisly fates which befall his classmates.

However, in Final Destination 2, we discover that Alex, who had since become a paranoid recluse, was eventually killed by a falling brick inside his house.

This disappointing death, which occurs entirely offscreen, is totally underwhelming. Why did Alex even survive the first film if his eventual death would be so bland? Instead, Alex really should have died in the original film, and audiences should have been treated to another creative and gory death.
