5 Horror Novels That Deserve Film Adaptations (And 5 That Deserve Better)
3. The Keep - Deserves Adaptation
Written by eventual Pulitzer prize winner Jennifer Egan, The Keep is a twisty and offbeat meta horror which mixes gothic elements with postmodern presentation for an inventive and original chiller.
Released in 2006, this strange dreamlike novel presents a slow burn mystery with a killer twist ending, and its odd atmosphere combined with its remote, evocative European setting make it a prime candidate for film adaptation.
With a slow, sparse plot, this one would be better suited to the big screen than television, where it could join the likes of Henry James' Turn of the Screw and Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House in the pantheon of psychological horror meets haunted house classics.
