5 Joss Whedon Films That Never Got Made

2. Wonder Woman

Although it was the first of his to be released with his name splashed all over it, Marvel's The Avengers was far from Whedon's first comic book movie. He had helped pen the script for the first X-Men film ten years previously (but remained uncredited), and also wrote several drafts of a Wonder Woman movie. Specifically hired by Warner Brothers to both write and direct, he would leave the project in 2007, citing creative differences between himself and the studio. Despite having such an intricate knowledge of bringing heroines to the screen, and comics which he grew up on, he gave a simple reason for walking away from the script he spent two years of his life working on: €œI had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked". Far from being bitter about the whole process though, he also added that "everybody at the studio and Silver Pictures were cool and professional ... We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that€™s never gonna work." Obviously Whedon was undeterred by this and went on to bigger and better things, and even showed his solidarity with former Ant-Man helmer Edgar Wright when he made a similar decision. Not one to be kept down, Wonder Woman is also bouncing back as Warner Bros./DC's plans for a series of Justice League films were merely postponed but are now coming to fruition. It was announced last year that Gal Gadot will play the Amazonian heroine in the forthcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
