4. Literally ANY Surprise

As selfish as it might sound, I don’t care if children like the Justice League movie, so while the age rating may be lowered just enough for them to get in, this movie is for me. It’s mine, okay?

The issue here is that Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s creation at too many occasions feels like it was made for a teen or adolescent audience, and those guys are far easier to please.

The difficulty in transferring comic fiction to the silver screen is that your competing with some of the best storytellers in literature. DC writers who have for decades provided thrills and spills that keep adult comic readers coming back for more whatever their age—this is their power.

So when you release a Justice League movie that’s not only barren of much shock or surprise, but it downright predictable, you’re not going to meet the wishes of a key demographic.

As sad as it is to admit, there simply wasn’t anything in Justice League that presented a shock factor. No unknown character reveal, no second-layer villain to provide an unexpected act, no invisible plane for Wonder Woman, nothing of the sort.

Instead, the biggest surprise we got was to find out the ‘Big Gun’ Batman was hoping would neutralise Superman was Ms. Lane. Amy Adams. Our big reveal was Amy Adams.
