5 Justice League Moments We Needed To See (That Didn't Happen)
1. Lex Equals More
And speaking of a distinct lack of villainy, let’s just say our quota of Luthor was far from fulfilled after Jesse Eisenberg featured for a sum total of around 30 seconds (if that).
At the end of Batman vs. Superman, we left Lex in a prison cell. Now granted it’s a doppelganger, but after months of in-film time passing and two hours of screen time, we’re led to believe he’s still in prison. Albeit this time in Arkham, where Batman told the evil genius he’d be stationed at the end of Dawn of Justice.
We get there’s a bigger picture and that Luthor has a major role to play in that vision, meaning we’re bound to be drip-fed the best bits, but do the drips have to be so tiny, Joss!?
Eisenberg’s portrayal of Luthor has divided opinion in the past, but slightly more input on his end could have helped give the script another edge, a greater sense of urgency rather than just one axe-wielding giant from space. That one’s been done before.
The very small silver lining on the surprise villain entry list? DEATHSTROKE. And we cannot wait for Joe Manganiello to inevitably strip down in a sequel so that we may all feel inferior in all his Slade Wilson splendour. Until then, Joe.
