5 More Awful Films That Are Actually Really Good

2. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me

Twin Peaks Until I really looked into it I had no idea that this film was so divisive: it's real critics seem to be fans of the original show that its based on while there are still plenty of people that absolutely revile it as a standalone movie as well. This is a real love it or hate it film, which is to be expected from a director like David Lynch but the strange thing is, like I mentioned, it seems to be his own fans that revile this film the most, and I could never wrap my head around that. The film embodies everything that made the television show of Twin Peaks some of the best TV you could watch at the time while also bringing about all of David Lynch's signature style. The film has an extremely eery tone throughout that all of the best David Lynch films have but it doesn't dissolve into cliche' and strangeness for the sake of strangeness like its detractors claim. Lynch knows exactly what he's doing with Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and even though it isn't as amazing as Lynch's bets films Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet or Mulholland Drive it is more than worth a watch and a great movie.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
