5 Movie Bad-Guys With Completely Justifiable Motives

4. Joe - Looper

The villain: Joe (Bruce Willis)

What they did: Killed 2 children and tried to kill another one.

Why this is justifiable: In this futuristic sci-fi film, Joe is a hitman who kills victims sent back to him from the future; he is what they call a €œlooper€. Joe grows older, falls in love, and marries a beautiful Chinese woman. One day, Joe€™s wife is accidentally killed by henchmen for someone named the Rainmaker, a person who wants all loopers destroyed. So Joe goes back in time in order to kill the Rainmaker as a child and thus, preventing numerous deaths in the future.

Problem is, he doesn€™t know exactly which kid is the Rainmaker, so he has to kill 3 children who were born on the same day as the Rainmaker. In his mind, he is killing a few people in order to save many, many more in the future (including his wife). This goes back to a centuries-old philosophical conundrum that is still debated to this day. For Joe, it was worth killing a few children in order to protect the lives of many others. It may not be an easy choice to make, but it is certainly an understandable one.
