1. John McClane - Die Hard Franchise
We all know that John McClane is one of the coolest and most iconic heroes in the history of American cinema. He topples a gang of cyber-terrorists led by the impressively sophisticated Hans Gruber, all whilst wearing a vest and very little else and despite being severely outnumbered, he comes out the other side relatively unscathed and all this somehow leads to his estranged wife loving him again. Whilst it is one of the finest action films America has to offer and thrilling from start to finish, it's impossible to deny that McClane wouldn't have lasted more than 10 minutes if that scenario took place in real life. The numbers game was just against McClane from the start and when the cyber-terrorists in question have enough small arms to fuel a rebellion, it makes the idea of a standard cop who looks slightly hungover seem very absurd. If the events of Die Hard took place in real life, it would have been Hans Gruber and his motley crew walking off into the sunset with millions as the actions of one individual cop is not going to stop an operation as efficient as Gruber's.
