2. Dragonball Z
Why We Need It: If your first experience with Dragonball anything was the God-awful Dragonball: Evolution, then Im sorry. Im so very, very, sorry. One of the most popular manga series of all time, spawning one of the most successful anime of all time, DBZ is the continued story of Son Goku, a martial artist who, as the series progresses, is revealed to be a Saiyan (a ruthless alien race), who was sent to the Earth to destroy its population and prepare the planet for sale on the intergalactic black market. He chooses instead to become Earths protector, and together with a team of gradually assembled warriors, defends the planet from increasingly deadly alien threats.
Why We Wont Get It: For one thing, where would they start? The manga is 42 volumes long, with long, epic story arcs that build on one another, making it difficult to omit one plot point without having to adjust those that come before it. In fact, most of the arcs, or sagas, could each really be made into a separate movie in its own right. Theres simply no way to cover the entire epic story that is Dragon Ball without serious condensing and reworking, which, as we know, leads to things like Dragonball: Evolution. And seriously, I cannot stress enough how awful that movie was.
