http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6ywMnbef6Y 2001: A Space Odyssey is a film that is as loved as it is loathed which only serves to keep it relevant to viewers of any generation. It is a genuine enigma in the broad history of motion pictures because it blends all of the aspects that make film so unique into one narrative. The way Kubrick uses sound and music in 2001 has become extremely iconic and with good reason. He uses the majesty of classical music to fully highlight the beauty of space while using the visual aspect of film to captivate his audience. The story he tells with the film is the grandest any movie has ever tried to accomplish and Kubrick succeeds brilliantly because he keeps the viewer constantly wanting to know more until the very last scene. Never before in his career has Kubrick been as ambiguous with the nature of his film making and it's the ambiguity that is employed so masterfully here that keeps people discussing and debating the meaning of 2001. Thanks for reading and please feel free to comment with any films you think should have been on the list.
