5 Movies That Use Mysticism As The Deus Ex Machina

4. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade

Indy The story opens up by a general viewing of how Indiana's father spent Indy's childhood, adolescence, and the present time researching the fable of the Holy Grail. Throughout this film, Indy has spent the movie searching for his father who has been abducted by the Germans (why is it always the Germans?) who are also looking for the Grail. At the end, Indiana's father, Henry Sr. has been shot and Indy proceeds into the cavern to try and find the Grail. Past all of the booby traps, they find a 700 year old knight guarding the Grail amidst many false grails. The knight lets him take the Grail from the cavern to heal his wounded father. The Grail actually works, heals his father and eats up the big bad Germans leaving Indy, Pops, Sallah and Brody free to ride off into the sunset, which they actually do.
