5 Movies That Use Mysticism As The Deus Ex Machina

5. Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

009 In this movie, Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts to find that the madman serial killer who betrayed his parents has escaped Azkaban and is after him. Shenanigans ensure and toward the end we find out Sirius didn't do it and, actually, is Harry's legal guardian and godfather (Harry has a family! Yay!). However, at this point of the movie so much has gone wrong. Buckbeak was decapitated, Wormtail got away, Hermione and Harry pass out after being hopelessly surrounded by dementors near the lake and Sirius was captured and destined to have his soul sucked out of him in a couple of hours. Do not lose hope, Harry! Hermione just so happened to have a time turner, which is just now coming to our attention. They go back in time, save Buckbeak, save Sirius and save themselves. And they all lived happily ever after (until the next movie).
