4. Amelia (2009)
If you change one letter in its title, Amelia almost sounds like that French classic. Unfortunately, its anything but. This was around the time when greedy producers saw that Hilary Swank had won a couple of Oscars and thought that throwing her into various roles would garner the Academys attention. This was post-P.S. I Love You, by the way, if you can recall that little doozy. The plan was all coming together, anyway: a biopic about a tragic heroine, Hilary Swank and a late October release for the senile academy. The film was, however, plagued with too many cooks, each taking a different approach until all that was left was a tragedy matching only that of its heroine's disappearance. The performances were tepid, with the script giving actors little or nothing to work with. A huge disappointment and a wasted opportunity.
