5 Pixar Movies That Are More For Adults Than Children

Wall-E is an odd film, but it’s also one of Pixar’s most impressive features. This strange, dystopian tale about a waste-disposal robot is perfect from start to finish.

The first part of the movie contains almost no dialogue. Wall-E wonders about collecting rubbish and crushing it into compact squares which he then uses as building blocks. For younger children, this sequence is a little too slow. Whilst Wall-E’s human mannerisms help to make him a likeable character, the silent-movie inspired opening is much more accessible for older audiences.

The movie doesn’t hold back on mature themes either. Respecting nature and the importance of conservation are at the centre of the story. And the oversized, screen-obsessed humans on the Axiom are a frightening depiction of what civilisation could look like in the future. Whilst these themes aren’t impossible for children to grasp, they resonate far more with adults.
