1. Zack Snyder & David Goyer
Marvel doesn't seem to take huge risks when it comes to directors (Jon Favreau and Joss Whedon excluded). DC, on the other hand, probably learned something from working with newcomer Nolan on the Dark Knight trilogy. They seem to have learned to hire risky and talented individuals that have interesting visions and strong voices whether all of their films have worked or not. It paid off when they hired Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) to adapt Superman in Man of Steel. They're now putting more faith in the man as he creates one of the most anticipated movies in a very long time: Batman Vs. Superman. He's been a risky choice from the beginning as his films don't always stick with audiences (Sucker Punch), but he's someone who always has voice and is known for fighting for creative freedom. Along for the ride is David Goyer who is dabbling in most everything that DC does these days. He's another filmmaker with a shoddy past, but he's managed to create vibrant scripts with stuff like the Dark Knight Trilogy or the first two Blade films. These two cats have set a standard in the type of filmmaker DC is looking for. They want unique artists that are going to be different no matter what. It's a huge gamble, but it's nice to see someone taking gambles when it comes to superhero films rather than playing it safe and boring us.
