5 Reasons Indiana Jones 5 Should NOT Be Made (And 5 Reasons It Should)
7. Harrison Ford's Ability (Should)
When Indy 5 hits cinemas (if it hits cinemas), Harrison ford will be around 80 years old. I've covered the argument that says Ford's age will diminish the feature - after all, the only truck Indy will be chasing is the meals on wheels van. Age gags notwithstanding, with some careful, considerate and an extremely well penned script, there's nothing to say that Indy can't use his skills in a more cerebral way, let someone else do the literally heavy lifting here (so long as it isn't Shia LaBeouf).
But let's not forget who we're talking about here - Harrison Ford is a living legend. Ford got his big break with Lucas' American Graffiti which in turn led him to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner and a slew of iconic movie roles that made him the man we know today.
If Ford wants to convince us that he can still wear that fedora with pride, the writers have to move with the reality of the situation. As enjoyable as it is to see Indy punching the hell out of Nazis, occultly temple types or girls selling cigarettes in nightclubs, watching him follow the clues is equally compelling.
Give him a map and a spade, let someone else do the whacking for once. Act your age Jones, not your hat size.
