5 Reasons Indiana Jones 5 Should NOT Be Made (And 5 Reasons It Should)

3. There Are Decades Of Untapped Potential (Should)

Indiana Jones 5 has so much potential for future storylines that could bring the franchise back to the former glory of old. When The Kingdom Of The Cartoon Monkeys defenestrated the vibe of the previous three movies with aliens, it stank - Indy needs clearly defined bad guys like Jedi need Sith.

Dr. Jones was born 1 July 1899, making him 58 years old in The Close Encounters Of The Crystal Skull. When the new film is released, we can add approximately twelve years, which takes Jones to the late 1960s or early 1970s.

The new creatives could bring in world events from that period and that's an exiting prospect. After WW2, it was rumoured that many Nazis fled Germany and Austria and settled in America, as part of an operation known as Operation Paperclip, a covert recruitment project to enlist Nazi scientists in the effort against the Soviets and the rising Cold War.

Similarly, rumours of Nazis hiding out in South America and in fact all over the world, could be used to bring the evil goose-steppers back into the sights of Indy's pistol. Hell, have another stab at The Cold War, a wasted opportunity in the last effort.

The possibilities don't end there - Indy's at his best when looting artefacts, so return the franchise to the mysterious quasi-religious treasure plundering roots that held its original appeal. The Spear Of Destiny, Atlantis, The Labyrinth, there are so possibilities for tomb raiding without flying saucers, CGI ants or Shia TheBeef.
