5 Reasons It's Time To Love George Lucas Again

2. He Told His Story

I think the biggest problem we fans have with the prequel trilogy is that it didn€™t meet our own self emulated expectations. Lucas undoubtedly put himself into an impossible situation when he made the decision to make the prequel trilogy. He had to have known that he wasn€™t going to be able to make everyone happy with the prequel story he was going to tell. In the end, I don€™t think George Lucas really cared. And for that I say good for him in telling the story he felt he wanted to tell. It is his story after all and he can be selfish in telling that story. It was a selfish gesture but one that was much more enjoyable to go through than say an M. Night Shyamalan film. Who are we to judge and say that it should have been a certain way or that we wanted to see something else? The prequels have been judged, harshly, but I feel that the test of time will bring them into a new light. As fans, we need to acknowledge that we€™re Star Wars fans first. We need to view the movies as a whole collective saga with each movie being a different episode as it€™s intended to be. I am I saying it's necessary to blindly love every aspect of the films? No, of course not. I'm going to watching Empire Strikes Back a lot more than the Phantom Menace because I enjoy that particular episode more. I fear that with the announcement of Episode VII and a new trilogy, fans are already getting a little too doom and gloom on the subject. People are afraid that Disney is going to exploit the series and milk it for all its worth. I strongly disagree with this notion€
