5 Reasons It's Time To Love George Lucas Again

1. He Did The Right Thing, He's Passing The Torch

As a diehard Star Wars fan, one of the things I€™ve always thought was a bummer was that we€™d never get to see another Star Wars film on the big screen, the Clone Wars movie is the exception. After 2005 and Episode III, that was to be the end of live action adaptations. I was excited for the re-release of the 3D adaptations more for being able to see the movies in theaters again than seeing them in 3D. The Clone Wars cartoon has been great and I feel that Dave Filoni has done a superb job at spearheading that journey. To me, this was proof alone that Star Wars could be taken care of in another persons hands. That being said, I feel that Lucas passing the torch to Disney is the best move he could have possibly made. I back his Disney decision 100%. I could write an entire article about this acquisition but for the sake of this one, I€™ll keep the points short. Disney is the center for entertainment. They own countless franchises and other entertainment possessions. Case in point #1 is Marvel. Think about the Marvel films that have come out prior to Disney€™s acquisition and what they have done since. Phase One of the Avengers is a glaring benchmark for the potential of what the Star Wars franchise could become in the future. With this move Lucas has announced that he€™s done, it€™s over, he€™s retiring. What we need to remember is that although Lucas no longer owns Star Wars in terms of property rights, it will always be his. It€™s time that we love George Lucas again because he€™s doing the right thing for us, the fans. Lucas is giving the Star Wars universe over to individuals that can take the opportunity to meet the expectations we all held for the prequel trilogy. As I said, I do not view the prequel trilogy as a failure or a letdown; it was simply a different tale from the original trilogy. By donating a large majority of the money he€™s getting from the sale, I feel this speaks volumes about the kind of person that is George Lucas. The time has passed to hold onto any sort of animosity towards Lucas and what he did to Star Wars. In the future, we€™ll look back at the prequel trilogy films and take them for what they are: Episodes that build the saga we all love and helps the child within all of us stay alive. Star Wars is timeless. My father loves it, I love it and with Disney€™s acquisition it€™s safe to assume, and hope, that my own children might love it. George Lucas gave us Star Wars and it€™s time that we all do the right thing and say €˜thank you George Lucas€™. Thank you for your love in what you created, thank you for taking care of this baby and thank you for making the decision to let it pass on to new generations to love like we all have up to this point. Anything you'd like to say? Why not throw us a comment or two?
