1. Riggs/ Murtaugh
This one is obvious, but is nonetheless valid. What made the Lethal Weapon movies so great? Riggs and Murtaugh. The chemistry and relationship between the two characters became the blueprint for everyone writing buddy cop movies from that point forward. Both were damaged in their own ways and both saved eachother in different ways. Murtaugh and his steady family created a compass for Riggs' unstable life and Riggs' pure determination and dedication gave Murtaugh something to strive for. They were a perfect team. Even through the sequels when there was little for the franchise to surprise us with, Riggs and Murtaugh were a pleasure to watch as they bickered, bonded and fought everyone from gang members to murders to eachother. Today the whole male camaraderie element that buddy cop movies thrived on is missing from film. The perfect people to bring it back would be Riggs and Murtaugh. Gibson's public image may be shattered and Glover may be getting up there in age, but they'll always be Riggs and Murtaugh in the same way that Bruce Willis will always be John McClane. Get these two old men back on the saddle because chances are they still got some ass to kick!
