3. There Doesn't Seem To Be Any Demand
Steve Jobs once said People dont know what they want until you show it to them. This applies to all sorts of products, from cell phones to movies. People arent really good at figuring out what they want out of something, but theyre good at figuring out what they dont want or never wanted in the first place. For most people, the main reaction to existence of the Power Rangers movie is probably going to be Why? Its a totally reasonable question, because Power Rangers hasnt been relevant in years. In fact, you are more likely to see Power Rangers related stuff at the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade than TV. And then theres the biggest problem this movie has: the fact that its Power Rangers. The hardcore Power Rangers fans (yes, they exist and have conventions) probably arent too enthusiastic about this either. While some fans are excited about seeing the franchise they love on the big screen with a decent budget, others are a bit wary. For them, its easy to imagine a scenario where the movie is an ultra grim, gritty reboot or a total mess, ruining the chance for them to see what they like about Power Rangers on the big screen. And even worse, since that would be the single biggest Power Rangers production in the last fourteen years, it would drive the reputation of the franchise with non-fans into the ground. Power Rangers is a film practically no one wants. Can Lionsgate make something so good that well want it when we see it? Only time will tell.
