5 Reasons Sony's Venom Movie Is Doomed To Fail

3. Marvel Studios Aren't Involved

As I've already mentioned, Venom doesn't take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in case you haven't already figured it out, Sony are developing the spinoff independently of their new partners. The same applies to that upcoming animated movie which Phil Lord and Chris Miller are involved with, and while the lack of Kevin Feige isn't the end of the world (Deadpool did ok without him), it's still cause for concern. With both the Ghost Rider and Spider-Man franchises, Sony have proved that they don't know how to handle these adaptations, and it's fair to say that as a studio they're known mostly for producing bad movies. That is what makes the lack of Marvel so worrying, because had they been involved, we could have at least looked forward to Venom being introduced in a Spider-Man movie before moving into his own solo outing which could have incorporated the wall-crawler and other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Sony reportedly eyeing Venom as a new franchise, it's clear that their main motivator here is money.
