I am a child of the 90s. I loved the cartoons of the time such as, Rugrats, Street Sharks and Sonic the Hedgehog, but the best of these was always Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Batman: The Animated Series, both of which fuelled a lifelong love for the characters and comic books. I dont remember watching the Superman's animated series, although Im aware there was one, even if my Dad is a huge Bat-fan and despises Superman (asking him for a Superman graphic novel last Christmas was like what I imagine coming out as gay would have been like a few decades ago or even now, in some places). Perhaps that is why it took me so long to discover the greatness of Superman. Not to worry, though, I have taken it upon myself to make up for lost time and decided to compile a short list of the reasons why I now love Superman as much as I love Spider-Man and Batman.
5. He Is Always Superman

Superman was born Kal-El, plain and simple. He adopted the name of Clark Kent upon being taken in by the Kents when he landed in Smallville. However, it wasnt until he became a man and fully understood his power, and therefore responsibility, that he created the persona of Clark Kent the fumbling, introverted, bespectacled character who walks among the people of Metropolis. Make no mistake, Clark Kent doesnt exist it is merely Superman playing the role of Clark Kent in order to try and lead a human life, as well as take advantage of his Daily Planet resources to hear first about something which might be a job for Superman, albeit leaving his dignity at the door to do so.
