5 Reasons To Be Excited For Jurassic World

5. The Casting

Universal scored a big win with the casting of Chris Pratt as the new film's lead. With Guardians of the Galaxy having become a major success, Pratt's star level and general awareness of who he is has risen considerably. Pratt is charisma incarnate and already seems more than capable of taking over the mantle of series protagonist from the likes of Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum. Even further, Trevorrow has done an interesting job in filling out the rest of the cast with actors who general audiences can recognize without their casting overshadowing the movie, like Bryce Dallas Howard, New Girl's Jake Johnson and Iron Man 3's Ty Simpkins, along with the slick installation of Vincent D'Onofrio as the CFO of Jurassic World's Patel Corporation. Though some fans continue to hold out hope that Neill and/or Goldblum can at least find their way into the film for a surprise cameo, Trevorrow seems to be doing his best to move away from being bogged down in complete fan service and start anew, with the only returning series character being the original film's Dr. Henry Wu, played by B.D. Wong. It's a cool, logical choice and with Wu's role having only been a solitary scene in the original film, readers of Michael Crichton's novel are already itching to see if his involvement in the new film is akin to his larger role in the book. With such an interesting and fresh cast lined up, anything can happen and we can't wait to see what Pratt and the rest of the new blood bring to the series.
