5 Reasons Why Donald Glover Definitely Won't Play Miles Morales In Spider-Man: Homecoming
4. He Wanted To Play It (But In 2010)
One of the biggest things linking Glover to Miles Morales is that the actor actively campaigned for the part; jumping off from some fan suggestions he mad a big point of lobbying Sony to get into a Spider-Man film. Think Gillian Anderson with Jane Bond, but ten times more intense.
That's at the very least a reason to consider his as Miles, surely? Well, yes, but saying Glover wanted to be Spider-Man should really come with clarification of when: it came in 2010, when Community was at its peak and Sony were looking to recast the role quickly following the break-up of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4. It was literally a reboot ago, so is hardly relevant now. The actor even said in 2015 he was done chasing the part (probably because he realised he could no longer convincingly play a teenager).
So, really, all this "he wanted to play it" screaming is like when Harrison Ford being desperate for Han Solo to die in 1983 became the key piece of evidence he'd not be back for Star Wars Episode VIII (OK, bad example, but you get the point).
