5. The Return Of The Aston Martin DB5 It was back in 1964 that the iconic Aston Martin DB5 was first used by Bond in Goldfinger. That car was fully loaded with gadgets from bullet proof shields to an ejector seat and would go on to become synonymous with Bond throughout his career. Despite favouring a number of different Aston Martin models over the years, the character has always returned to the classic DB5. Since Goldfinger, the car has appeared in Thunderball, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale so its inclusion in Skyfall marking the series€™ 50th Anniversary is most fitting. In Fleming€™s original novels the character drove a Bentley but from the early days of the film series, Aston Martin has been the car most associated with Bond. After brief dalliances with Lotus and BMW, Aston Martin remains the car of choice. The DB5 used in Skyfall still features the BMT 216A number plate from its first appearance but it is certainly not just for show. The DB5 was spotted racing through the London Borough of Lewisham on an industrial estate near Millwall Football Club in December of last year and it seems it will also play an important role in the Scottish scenes as well and can be seen briefly in the films teaser trailer. While many of the details regarding the films plot remain tightly under wraps, I have tried to piece together all the information I can from the countless sources of rumours and gossip from all over the web. When the film is released on October 26th in the UK and November 9th in the US all will finally be revealed but I am confident that this will be the best of the series so far and a hell of a way to celebrate the momentous 50th Anniversary.
