5 Reasons William Boyd's "Solo" Should Be The Next James Bond Movie

1. Thirsting For The Revenge Quantum Of Solace Never Gave

Quantumofsolace Boyd's book is aptly named as in the end it boils down to being a story about self-appointed revenge. 007's simple mission to Africa leaves him burned by details that were left out of his briefing. Those details leave a bitter taste in his mouth and he decides to tie up the loose ends in blood not realizing that as he chases those details they will reveal a plot much more sinister and twisted. Quantum of Solace was in many ways very much like Solo as both are akin to Licence to Kill. It is about a personal blow being dealt to James that sets him on a warpath to seek vengeance. The problem in Quantum's case was that in the end the revenge was not Bond's, but the leading lady's instead. The result is an almost two and a half hour action film that never delivers Bond's vengeance against Mr. White for killing Vesper Lynd at the end of Casino Royale (to be very fair, Quantum was made during the writer's strike and the writing was left to Craig and the director who did their absolute best). What really happened was that the scene where 007 claims his revenge got cut from the film and subsequently from the DVD. Seems pretty essential as it leaves the rest of us to question what happened to White and Bond's vendetta against him. Solo has the perfect set up to bring back White at the end and to have Bond bring him to justice. It seems the perfect time to tie up a rather loose end or take it to the next level in Bond 25.
