Based on a phenomenally successful franchise, there are two things that may scare away anyone who hasn't seen the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, or indeed any of its successors. Firstly, its a franchise with a long, and possibly confusing history that began before many potential viewers were even born. Secondly, Power/Rangers is described as a fan film, although the good thing is that none of this matters. The term "fan film" was initially used to describe a low budget film based on a particular film or series made by fans who were passionate about it. With productions becoming more and more elaborate however, and even industry professionals making similar films, these days fan films have reached impressive standards. As is the case with Power/Rangers, they can often be indistinguishable from other studio productions, and the term "fan" merely describes the fact that they do not hold intellectual property rights over what they have made. In terms of the film itself, Power/Rangers is only 11 minutes long (14 with credits), hardly enough time to delve too deep into the show's rich mythos. The interrogation scene is one often used in fan films, as it is a useful way to get across much needed exposition, without being overly laborious. Through the questions and answers we are told all of the relevant information that we need that to know, whether we were previously aware of it or not. And as the rest of the film shows, the film-makers were obviously very aware of it.
