5 Rebooted Franchises That Still Deserve Sequels

3. 21 Jump Street

I was skeptical going to see the adaptation of the 80s television series. Many reboots of 80s TV shows that take the comedy route end up feeling tired and flat - think of Starsky and Hutch or the Charlie's Angels films - and this one had the strange pairing of Superbad's Jonah Hill and Dear John's Channing Tatum. But, Hill and Tatum ended up knocking the comedy out of the park. 21 Jump Street intelligently and hilariously rebooted the franchise and was one of funniest films of 2012 - it even ended up having a surprisingly good script featuring smart comments on high school stereotypes and friendship. Then there was the great nod to the original series in the form of a couple great cameos and one ingenious scene. The film set up the sequel quite nicely and with Ice Cube telling our heroes that their next assignment is college, and I'm all in.
