5 Rebooted Franchises That Still Deserve Sequels

1. Prometheus

Prometheus Fanboys love to hate this one: they complain about everything from a strange last few seconds to a few giant leaps in logic to Lindelof's too abstract screenplay. It was a tough sell from the beginning: Prometheus was a sort of prequel, but not really, but kinda sorta to Alien - it was meant to take place the same universe and take place before the Alien franchise, but many fans didn't buy it. This one did. Prometheus had its faults, but it was one of Ridley Scott's best in awhile. Besides some great performances and looking great, the movie had an original and interesting examination of mortality and human relationships, not to mention an unforgettable scene with Noomi Rapace and a last minute decision about an alien baby. Prometheus ended up being a highly original and highly entertaining film that lifted itself above typical popcorn fare. The film may have its detractors, but a sequel is deserved based on the strength of the first film and based on the endless possibilities opened up at the end of the film. A sequel is already supposedly green-lit and call me a skeptic, but I have a cryptic feeling it's going to end up in limbo just like the second Predators film did. Hopefully not.
