5 Romantic Comedies All Guys Should Secretly Love

1. Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day "A weatherman finds himself living the same day over and over again." - A simple idea but one which, in all honesty, is very well executed. It stars Bill Murray as the leading man, and Andy Macdowell as the leading plank of wood. For those of you who haven't seen a Bill Murray movie (shame on you), please read the following synopsis - Bill Murray plays a man in his mid 40's who is reasonably successful but obviously not content with life. We start off laughing with him at the absurdity of everyone around him and we genuinely share his frustration. We then move on to laughing at him as some bizarre event changes the course of his life and he starts spiralling out of control, until he eventually redeems himself and discovers true love, and we as an audience discover that he is in fact a nice person as we suspected at the beginning. Congratulations, you've now seen every Bill Murray movie from the early 80's to the mid 90's. In this movie, he plays a weatherman reporting on an annual event involving a large hamster that can predict the weather. He hates his job and every other person he comes into contact with. What he doesn't hate is Andy MacDowell's character. Some weird magic happens and he awakes each morning in his hotel to find that he's reliving the same day over and over again, much to his frustration. He then starts to use this to his advantage and begins to seduce Andy MacDowell through varying techniques, mainly by discovering her likes and dislikes and then presenting them as his own the following day - the effects of his seduction are hard to deduce, mainly because of the wooden expression on her wooden face throughout. He eventually comes to accept his new circumstances and ultimately the thought that his life is now meaningless and his actions are of absolutely no consequence to the universe in any way whatsoever. It isn't expressly stated how many times he lives the same day over and over again, but he does have enough time to learn piano and fluent French. So, judging by how long that would take me, at least 2 weeks. The spell eventually breaks and he has become a totally different person and has a new appreciation for life and love. So why should guys secretly love this movie?Groundhog Day 6 It shouldn't be a secret, it's a great movie. Bill Murray is marvellous at what he does.
