5 Sci-Fi Movies That Should Have Had Sequels... But Never Will
2. Batman Returns
Forget Nolan's Batman films... Tim Burton's Batman Returns is the greatest Batman movie and one of the, if not THE, most interesting and visual superhero movies of all time. I am sure most of you disagree with me, but considering Batman Returns is 20 years old it shows how great it must have been to still be this fondly remembered years later. OK, so you could maybe argue that Batman Forever is kind of a sequel to this movie, although because this film wasn't directed by Burton, and because this film recast Batman and featured so few of the original characters... but most people, including myself, would rather forget Forever and Batman and Robin and wish it were completely wiped off the planet and no one speak of them ever again. Instead of rebooting Batman, I would much prefer Tim Burton to step back into this world once again, and create a new Batman in his darkly unique version of Gotham... perhaps even recast Michael Keaton as an older Batman in this world- dealing with being an over the hill superhero much like Pixar did with The Incredibles (FYI... I'd love to see a sequel to The Incredibles too, but I we will see this film within the next 10 years anyway). Although I am sure a Tim Burton Batman wouldn't fit the same world as "Man of Steel's" Superman reboot for the Justice League movie- personally I can't see another Batman who is supposed to exist in a realistic universe working so soon after Nolan's Batman did they exact same thing. Plus, I think it's just about time for Batman to play around with camp and distinguish itself from Nolan's fine legacy.
