5 Terrifying Movie Moments That Will Give You Nightmares

3. The Descent (2005)

the-descent The Descent is a brilliant horror film of; constant claustrophobia, riveting suspense and darkness. It is a brilliant survival film that shows an exploration into uncharted caves that lead to worst situations than cave-ins and broken limbs. A group of girls, whose friendship is shaken from previous events, go exploring deep into the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Seems like this film ticks all the conventions of a great horror. So the girls go to a cave exploring unmapped cave systems and get stuck. Any survival guide will say; remain calm, stay together if you€™re in a group, conserve your light and stay put if you don€™t have light. But if there is flesh eating humanoids hunting you, I am not surprised when none of the girls actually bothered to follow any of the rules of survival. If it can€™t get any worst, this is a horror film that says yes it can. One of the girl€™s breaks their leg, one claims she saw a creature and - on top of that - they're running out of supplies. All the torches go out and the only thing we can see is, once again, the shaky camerawork - this time in night vision. Everyone is shouting and crying and then suddenly one of the creatures is just standing behind one of the girls. Totally caught me off guard and I remember spilling my M&M€™s everywhere. I could not tell if I was annoyed that I lost half a packet of M&M€™s or that I screamed like a girl in front of my friends.
