4. Ritas Car Accident Was Actually A Dream
The accident at the beginning at Mulholland Drive that leads a perplexed and stunned Rita to wonder to Betty is actually a subconscious dream sequence by Betty. The car accident itself is a deeper meaning for the relationship between Rita and Betty. The location where Ritas accident happened is the same location where Camilla picks up Betty and takes her to the film directors party Adam Kesher which is at Mulholland Drive. It is here where Betty discovers that her lover Camilla and Kesher announce their engagement. The car slamming into the limo is a metaphor for how Betty felt when Camilla and Kesher right in front of Betty laughing and kissing announced their engagement.
