5 Things Ghostbusters Haters Have Already Done To Make The Film Fail
1. Accusing Reviewers Of Being SJWs
Of course, the big point of contention with the film is the one that's been there since it became a Paul Feig joint; the gender-swapped casting.
Now I'd like to think that most of the haters aren't disliking the film for simple misogynist reasons, but regardless that's not stopped them reacting to it being discussed; a reviewer bringing up what is an essential element of the film's coverage and its actual content is being treated as reason enough to dismiss everything they're saying.
Apparently, in addition to being paid off, critics are only liking the film because it's morphed into a feminist icon and so to discredit will be a knock against female-led blockbusters in general. Or something. As the haters view it, to praise (or even not hate) the film and in doing so acknowledge the backlash (which, as I said in the intro is near impossible to avoid) makes you a SJW, plain and simple, and thus your opinion is devoid of cinematic grounding.
This is the most direct form of the hate I've experienced - especially with my YouTube review - with jokes about the influencing factors leading to a barrage of negativity. Hey, maybe some people didn't like the video, fair enough, but most of the reaction is to those few mentions of the sexism rather than the rest of the debate. Why so sore?
