One of the great parts of The Wolverine was the relationship between Logan and Yukio. They worked well off of each other, and didn't hold each other back in a fight. Logan has mostly been presented as a lone-wolf type in the X-Men movies, so seeing him interact with someone was a great treat. Yukio herself was a great character, always ready to slice someone up or say something witty. If this movie is set before Days of Future Past (DOFP), Yukio seems like an obvious choice for a partner since it was established that she was on the plane with him. They could go on an adventure anywhere and she could serve as a reminder of his time in Japan. However, if this movie is set after DOFP this would be a golden opportunity to introduce other X-Men characters or bring someone back from the previous films to work alongside Wolverine. Basically, don't make Hugh Jackman carry the movie by himself Angel, Beast, Deadpool, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Mystique, and Bishop are all examples of characters already introduced to the Fox-Marvel Cinematic Universe who could be brought back. To throw and even stranger possibility out there, they could bring in The Thing from the Fantastic Four reboot. After all, Fox has already confirmed these franchises will exist in the same universe.
