3. The Predator Is Not E.T.
In both of the Alien vs. Predator films, the Predator ends up becoming an ally of the human characters. This pretty much goes against everything the 1987 Predator film showed us when the Predator would rather blow himself up than admit defeat to a human, let alone seek their help to clean up its own mistake as seen in Requiem. It is a killing machine and the human species as well as the Xenomorph are its prey. And while it hunts for fun, the creature has been seen to show occasional compassion for non-threats such as children as well the sickly and unarmed (basically unworthy opposition). Other than that, all bets should be off. While Requiem tried to up the gore content with the Predator uncharacteristically killing unarmed civilians (which goes against them only taking on worthy adversaries), it all felt wrong. Sure some of the Xenomorph kills were cool but not having a worthy human(s) to go up against was a fatal mistake and instead came off as cheap slasher-style villain rather than a worthy hunter. And dont get us started on the dire Predalien concoction. At all costs, a new film in the franchise should stay away from hybrids (note the Milky Bar monster from Alien: Resurrection and the aforementioned Predalien) and focus on getting the basics of an Alien and Predator showdown correct before adding Predaliens. And how to do this is to restore the Predator to its cunning and brutal best.
