5 Things That Must Be The Future of Horror Movies

4. A Return To Demonic Horror

Ghouls and vampires are all well and cool and every year has a slew of themed films (next year will be zombies I promise you), but I personally would love to see a revival in the 1970s habit of having the heroes and protagonists go up against forces beyond heaven and earth (i.e. hellish in origin) that are timeless and terrifying in equal, Leviathan-sized proportions. They wouldn't necessarily even need to have a religious basis or inclination - there's already tons of possession films out there, but what about actual physical demons coming through hell? Or ancient evils being awakened and unleashing very real havoc upon the world? The idea of a being so dark and immortal and evil it needs a corporeal form is frightening, equally just as frightening as a demon or a devil infecting the mind of a hapless innocent and more than a faceless killer or knife-wielding psychopath who is, at least, mortal.
