5 Upcoming Horror Movies That Will Disappoint (And 5 That Could Be Great)

8. Ouija 2

Universal Pictures

Described by USA Today as “a deadly dull and overly familiar movie about summoning ghosts that draws upon nearly every horror movie cliché”, Ouija made $102 million on a $5 million budget, proving that when people go to a movie just to see how bad it is, they turn it into a monster hit and unleash a franchise.

But let’s not write this sequel off (at least, not yet): Mike Flanagan, who made Oculus, directs from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Howard, while the cast includes Lin Shaye and Elizabeth Reaser, which should help bring in the audience for the Insidious and Twilight franchises.

Plot details are sketchy, though the film can’t possibly be as tedious as the original. Then again, it’s produced by Michael Bay in association with Hasbro, so all bets are off.
