5 Upcoming Horror Movies That Will Disappoint (And 5 That Could Be Great)
3. Ghostbusters
You’ve probably already made up your mind about this much-publicized reboot, and anyone who contends that it’s a desperate cash-grab has plenty of ammunition. After the firing of studio head Amy Pascal and a summer that saw the company receive only a 3.9% market share of the box office (their biggest success was Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2), Sony needs a hit so badly that they've resurrected a 30 year old franchise.
Then again, the director is Paul Feig, whose previous comedies (Spy, The Heat, Bridesmaids etc) were far from being soulless cash-ins. If you want safe pair of hands, then this is your guy (remember that Ghostbusters' director, Ivan Reitman, later made Evolution and My Super Ex Girlfriend - ugh).
Also, you have to give Feig credit for not going the easy route and casting the movie with pale facsimiles of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd et al. Rather than be slavishly, obsequiously faithful to the original, he seems to have gone ahead and made his own movie.
If ever a film deserved the benefit of the doubt, it's this one.
