3. The Wolf Of Wall Street
Trailers for The Wolf of Wall Street suggest that Martin Scorsese is edging back to the gloriously dark satire of The King of Comedy in this real-life tale of corporate greed. It's a film that fits the times and it would be a surprise if this isn't in the Academy's considerations come February. In fact, it would take for it to be a real bomb not receive a substantial amount of attention. DiCaprio is in the lead as he has solidified his position as Scorsese's muse and the impressive supporting cast included Matthew McConaughey who continues his career renaissance, the Academy Award nominated Jonah Hill and Jean Dujardin and also TV stalwarts Kyle Chandler and Jon Bernthal. Set in a world of extravagance and excess, The Wolf of Wall Street will see Scorsese embark on something new in his career and follows his recent trend of doing whatever projects take his fancy at that current time. Importantly, it is the first Scorsese film to be shot in digital, sadly signifying that film is edging closer and closer to the end as there is no bigger supporter of film than Scorsese. It may have taken Scorsese three decades to get an Oscar, but he could well get a second here.
