5 Upcoming Movies That Could Save 2013

2. The Counselor

00453 It's been a while since Ridley Scott made something that could be called great, but The Counselor sees the veteran director branch off into brand new, significantly more edgy territory. With a script by Cormac McCarthy (arguably the greatest living author), The Counselor looks set to be a dark, lurid, violent thriller set in the mrky world of drug trafficking. The Counselor could well satisfy mainstream tastes whilst endearing critics if the final film possesses even a tiny percentage of the energy that exists in the trailer. With a premiere cast that features Michael Fassbender in the lead and with the likes of Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz as supporting players, The Counselor has a line-up most can only dream of. Scott needs to make full use of his cast to deliver on the hype that exists around the film as with the exception of Diaz, every main cast member is associated with consistently acclaimed success. With a great director, mercurial writer and mesmerising cast, The Counselor will be the biggest disappointment of all if it fails to deliver.
